The Project: Evolution Property Group - Renovation

Year: 2014

Suburb: Hawthorn East

The story:

This renovation by renowned property developer Evolution is situated in Hawthorn. Evenglide had great pleasure in supplying and installing an insulated 4D European sectional door, finished in Sandgrain. The door was coupled with a 4D European automatic opener.

Upon visiting the project to perform the final measure, the first impression as the gates open is nothing short of amazement. The house has totally transformed from its original state, and is now a solid, contemporary structure utilising materials and textures such as Aluminium, glass and render.

The brief provided by Evolution revolved around the door providing a resolution between the aluminium composite cladding to the first floor facade and also the render to the ground level walls around the garage. Our job is to be sympathetic to the vertical lines provided by the express joints and the vertical nature of the windows floating above the solid and dramatic garage. After much collaboration with Evo, the managing director of Evolution property, many options were explored. The initial concept was to have the door manufactured to include aluminium composite cladding to match the first floor. This door was to have both vertical and horizontal express joints similar to the existing wall cladding.

However, Evo was looking for a different material. He had used many of these types of custom doors by Evenglide in the past, and demanded that we seek a more cutting edge door type. The principles behind the Evolution Property Group include the use of premium fixtures and fittings to compliment their design outcomes. The garage door should be no different.

For Evenglide, this use of contemporary materials of Aluminium cladding and render provide an opportunity to utilize the newly introduced 4D European door. These insulated doors are incredibly straight due to the polyurethane foam core with the steel to the front and back face of the door. Furthermore, the Sandgrain texture provides a cutting edge contemporary textured finish and colour. We felt this Sandgrain texture and colour sat perfectly with the Aluminium and also the render. The L Rib choice provides a door with horizontal lines highlighting the panel joins only. This flat look door is in contrast to the more common sectional doors available which have multiple horizontal embossing. In the case of this project, as with most contemporary architecture, we felt that less is more.

We were very happy with the outcome, as was our client.

A note from our client upon completion of the door installation:

Hello Bradd,

Just a quick email to thank you once again for the fantastic garage door you guys installed in my home yesterday.

Needless to say , I love it.

I've been buying quality garage door from you guys for many years now but

I'm so glad to finally see a garage door of such superior German build quality here in Australia. The German 4D motor is whisper quiet and it makes light work of lifting this sturdy heavy door.

Best of all my garage is now fully sealed from even the slightest breeze entering and noticeably quieter too.

Anyway you probably already know all this, so thanks again mate!

Kind regards

Evo Dimov
